AU PAIR FOR DANISH/NORWEGIAN FAMILY IN LONDON
We are a Danish/Norwegian family living in the Abbey Wood/Bexleyheath area of London.

Sebastian, born August 2016, is a happy boy who enjoys exploring and learning about the world and learning three languages all at once.

Mum, Anne-Grethe, is an archivist working in Central London and Dad, Stephan, is an IT Director. He works from his home office most days, so will be nearby if you should need any help to start with.

We also have a large, friendly cat called Charlie.

You will have your own cosy room (with a television in case you get fed up with watching what we watch), but will share a bathroom with the family. We will provide a mobile phone for you to use while staying with us as well as access to the internet. We will need evening babysitting 1-2 times per month, the dates will be agreed well in advance and will be paid in addition to your regular pocket money. We also, of course, cover your travel expenses whenever you take Sebastian to activities.

We are situated a 15 minute walk from Abbey Wood station (a local bus will take you there in 5 minutes) with frequent trains into central London (train journey around 30 minutes), where you can explore and experience to your heart's content. Our previous au pairs have met up with other au pairs in central London for an afternoon exploring or a great night out.

Our local area is a vibrant community with a lot of cafes and shops you can explore. Our small local library is a ten minute walk away, and there is a larger central library in Bexleyheath town centre. Our current au pair takes our son to classes several times a week which gives them both the opportunity to make friends and practice speaking English. We would encourage you to seek out opportunities to speak English and get involved in English speaking activities/groups in your spare time, but what you choose to do will of course be entirely up to you.

Sebastian goes to a local nursery on Mondays and Tuesdays. The other three days (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) he spends time with the au pair.

There are lots of activities locally to choose from that you can take Sebastian to. Our current au pair takes him to swimming lessons, Monkey Music classes and a local play group. There are several parks and playgrounds in the area for Sebastian to use up some energy, he particularly likes the swings.

Sebastian really enjoys music, singing and dancing and being creative and messy.

We are looking for an au pair who can look after Sebastian three days per week (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 10 hours each day (8-18)).

As our au pair you will have 4 full days off each week: every weekend free as well as Mondays and Tuesdays.
This means that you will have plenty of time to study, do voluntary work (our current au pair volunteers in a Red Cross shop every Monday) or other activities you may be interested in.

We have a local shopping and entertainment centre nearby (cinema, bowling alley, restaurants, night clubs and all major shops), as well as a leisure centre with swimming pool, and several local language schools within easy reach (Bexleyheath, Woolwich, Dartford). There are also lots of parks nearby as well as woodland and cultural sights.

We would prefer our au pair to start the second half of July 2019, but this is negotiable.

It is important to us that our au pair speaks either Norwegian or Danish, as those are the languages we speak at home, but it is absolutely fine if you are currently only comfortable with one of them. As a mixed family we’re quite used to that.

We would like Sebastian to learn about Danish or Norwegian language and traditions. In return we will introduce you to British traditions and events.

Our au pair should be happy to:
- wash their own clothes and keep their room tidy
- play, sing, read, draw and paint with Sebastian, and tidy away with Sebastian helping after play/activities
- take him to activities such as swimming, play groups, activity classes
- take him to the playground/park/for walks in the woods
- help him with toilet/potty visits.
- prepare lunch and snacks for Sebastian (we can help to start with, it is not complicated at all, so you do not need to be a fabulous cook)
- help mum and dad keep Sebastian a happy, inquisitive boy

Please contact us for further information or if you have any questions. Our current and past au pairs are happy to talk to you as well.
