Our family has 3 members: Me (mom), Audun (dad) and baby Mathias.
I am 34 years old and from Denmark, but I have lived in norway for 4,5 years. I am a nurse and work in an intensive Care unit as well as the acute medical clinic. I was an aupair myself back in 2004-2005, so I know how it feels.
Audun is 38 years old and from Norway. He works as an officer in the Norwegian coastguard and is away sailing for 3 weeks at a time, then home for 3 weeks. Mathias was born on May 1st,
2018, and is a very healthy, happy baby. In addition we have two very nice, and calm, but big dogs.
We have have an au-pair because I am alone with the baby and the dogs for 3 weeks at a time. We dont have alot of family here in the area, and my work requires working evening and Night, so we need help watching the baby. He Will start kindergarten in august, and be there during the daytime.
We live in a House in Røyken, where we are still working to get settled. We can offer an au-pair her/his own room on the Ground floor (we live mostly on the first floor), and a private bathroom right next to the room.
To be our au-pair you MUST HAVE a valid drivers license. We have two cars, so when Audun is away sailing an au-pair can have her/his own car, and when he is home, we will be 3 people sharing two cars. We travel to Denmark a lot to visit my family, and it will be up to the au-pair if he/she wants to stay here and have the time off, or travel with us.
We are an active family and have a big sailboat. We like to go out to hockey games and other events.
We have first had One au-pair for 6 months when Mathias was a new-born, and this worked very well. Unfortunately she had to leave us because of illness. After that we got our current au-pair from Germany, who we love so much. Unfortunately we must say goodbye to her in september/oktober, so she can pursue her dreams of Studying.
The most important thing for us, is finding an au-pair who Will love and take good Care of Mathias, and keep him safe. Flexibility is very important also. It will be so that for the 3 weeks Audun is home we are very flexible and Can make almost anything work with lots of free time, however when he is gone, we need our au-pair to work more hours and we are not very Flexible.
