TRILINGUAL FAMILY LOOKING FOR GERMAN SPEAKER
Hello!
We are a trilingual family of four (papa, mor, Ida-Marie and Isak) living in Denmark and as of August/September 2022, we will be looking for a German speaking au pair to help take care of our two children. I will just dissect that sentence as it can raise a lot of questions!
1. Hours per week and for how long
We would like someone who can be with us for an extended period of time (more than six months - preferably longer!) and someone who can work 25-30 hours/week.
2. Denmark is small, but still a big place. Where do you live?
We live 30 mins by car (45 mins public transport) from Copenhagen, in a small suburban town called Allerød. There is no crazy nightlife here (we have a bar or two), but it has everything you need to have a decent day: bakers, supermarket, cinema, library, nature, and a lot of dogs.
3. Why German speaker?
We want someone who can speak German to our children as we want them to be fluent. We speak Danish, German and English at home.
4. What are your expectations?
As mentioned before: 1. you can work 25-30 hours/week and you speak German, you are okay with taking care of two children (a boy who will be one by then and a girl who will be three), you like playing outside with children, you don't mind living outside Copenhagen you would like to stay for at least 6 months, you don't smoke
You will not be expected to clean - only the mess you create yourself. You will have your own room and bathroom (it's a guest bathroom, so guests might use it), you will get one of our bikes to use whenever you need it, and you can borrow our car if we don't need to use it ourselves, you don´t need to cook dinner (we primarily eat vegetarian or vegan food, but you are welcome to keep meat in the fridge).
Personality wise we hope to find someone who can tell us exactly what your expectations are so there is no misunderstanding. Clear communication is important to us. We enjoy our privacy too, so it would be nice if its okay with you to once in a while retreat to your room so we can have some married couple time. However, we know you have come to live with us to be a part of the family, and we will accommodate that and welcome you. The most important thing is that you enjoy playing with children.
5. so.. who are you guys?
Amalie is a master's student, who is Danish and has lived in Luxembourg for several years. Loves baking, going for walks and dogs. Kris is management consultant, who is half German, half British. He loves beer, board games and cats. Ida-Marie is a VERY active, loves being outside and loves all animals. Isak is a calm boy, who loves to watch his sister create mayhem.
As Amalie is studying, we need someone to take care of the children while I am studying. I am unaware of the schedule at the moment, but will be 25-30 hours a week (30 hour week for a whole month would be approx. 5000 DKK in pay).
Feel free to write to us if you have any questions!
