NICE GERMAN FAMILY IN COPENHAGEN NEEDS HELP TO MANAGE EVERY DAY LIFE - START AUGUST 2015
Dear Au pair,
We are an open minded, easy going and nice family with Au pair experience. We are looking for a fun, responsible, and independent Au pair that loves children and supports us in everyday life.
It would be ideal if; you speak German, because our children speak only German (and a small amount of English), and have a 12 months period (from August 2015) to live with us - but you can stay up to 24 month with us.
It is very important to us that you feel comfortable as an Au Pair in your family and we look forward to being able to welcome you as a family member. You are welcome to join (if you like) at any time in our various family activities.
We are a German family moving in the summer of 2015 from Stuttgart, to Copenhagen, the capital (approximately 1.2 million residents) of Denmark, for three years. We will be living close to the city centre, but still in an area with lots of nature, in a classic style villa in a very nice neighbourhood (Charlottenlund). There you will live in a large private room and have a bathroom to your disposal.
Copenhagen is a great city with many attractions, the happiest people in the world, and a rich culture. It is very a very international city and has a great university. There you will certainly make new friends.
There is also a lot to do, for example: Theater, concerts and cinema, festivals and open air concerts, sports clubs and beautiful parks, numerous shops, several language schools, and a great nightlife with restaurants, bars and clubs. Charlottenlund is about 15 minutes by train (which runs all night) from the city centre.
It is important to us that you have enough time to learn German or Danish, and therefore you have the opportunity to attend a language school or one of the universities every morning.
For three years we have had Au pairs and you are more than welcome to ask them (Zoriana or Heather) about their experience with our family.
We would be very happy for you to apply with us.
Regards Ursula
What are we expecting?
We are looking for a loving care giver for our children, who would be able to help us with everyday life.
You should be an independent person, who accepts responsibility, takes initiative, is quick thinking and does not wait for instructions.
In the morning you would make breakfast and we would eat together. Then you would be able to, for example, attend a language course while we will be in school and at the office (at about 8:00 clock).
In the afternoon (14:00 to 18:00 clock - depending on the day we will need your support with the children; picking them up from school, taking care of homework, bringing them to sports, music and friends etc., as well as preparing dinner and helping around the house. Occasionally, we would need you to babysit for an evening.
We would be delighted if you took the initiative with your duties, for example, giving the children fun and interesting ways to spend the afternoon, or surprising us with a meal that you love from your home...
We will need your help in the home with tasks such as shopping, tidying up, watering plants, emptying the dishwasher, washing, folding and ironing the laundry, and cleaning....
You should also be interested in Germany and Denmark (which we will explore ourselves) - it´s culture and language. We would like to help you experience this through good food, family celebrations, many discussions and our everyday lives.
Zoriana, Cristina and Heather all had lots of free time to make friends, explore Stuttgart and spend their weekends relaxing, exercising or enjoying the nightlife.
We would love to have you want to become a family member, not just someone we work with. I have also been an Au pair myself, so I understand the place you are in! If you have questions or problems, you can contact us anytime.
Who are we?
Our family consists of Mara (9), Christian (7), Ursula (42) and Patrick (43).
Mara begins the fifth grade in the fall. In addition to the school, she is passionate about gymnastics and is playing both flute and piano. In the fall, Christian will begin the second grade. He sings in a choir and loves anything to do with football!
Both will be attending a German-Danish school in the city center of Copenhagen. Both children also like to meet up with friends, spending time in the garden, on the street or in their rooms (e.g. Lego or Playmobil) to play with crafts, their toys as well as read.
Christian and Mara are both very happy, uncomplicated and well-behaved children. They are already fairly independent, and can do a lot on their own.
As a family we are like to ski and hike in the Alps. We enjoy nature, biking, swimming together, playing ball, playing games (e.g. Uno) and both hosting and meeting up with friends and family. In Copenhagen we want to learn to sail and explore Denmark.
Ursula is a consultant for a company in the area and works 28h a week. Patrick is a consultant at a strategy consulting company. We have both studied Economics.
