LENA, 26 YEARS

Hello!
My name is Lena, currently I'm a high school student in Struer, Denmark. My homeland is Poland, however I decided to go on a adventure and move alone to Denmark in order to explore new culture and study in English (I'm doing IB diploma program).

About me
I'm very open-minded, responsible and creative, always willing to get involved into new activities. In the past I've been taking care of my younger cousins and children (7-10 years old), as well as tutored them in different areas (English, math, geography, etc.). Along the way I also took part in many activities involving playing with children (multiple festivals, children days and so on) or cooking with them (Madklubben - Food Club set up by the Danish Red Cross). One of my biggest hobbys is learning languages and recently I've been even teaching 3 people Polish.

I also have an experience in cleaning (from 2013-2015 and occasionally later on) I worked in Fabryka Hostel in Sopot, my hometown.

I speak fluent Polish and English. I would place my German skills at B1+/B2 level. I easily understand Slovak and Chech. I'm a beginner in Danish, however I'm taking a very intense course so I'm predicting to be at least on level A2 after finishing high school, maybe even on B1.

In my free time I read, travel, take pictures and paint. do sports (running, fitness), learn languages, try to write my own stories, hang out with friends and take part in some volunteer projects. I'm engaged into a lot of environmental and anty-cruelty movements and actions. I'm a vegan, however I don't have any problems with preparing food for non-vegeterians and I can assure you that I won't try to convince any of the family members to change their diet. I can cook for myself if it's needed :-)

I would like to study Liberal Arts or Environmental Science in Scotland.

I would like to become an au pair because:

1. I would like to work on my language skills. Ideally of the Danish language or German, as I'm totally fine with my level of English proficiency. And being around the natives of either of the languages could be a great opportunity for me to learn more in a shorter period of time.
2. I would like to explore another culture from a totally different angle and meet new people.
3. Spending my gap year productively is something that really appeals to me, especially if it involves working with children. It can be only a pleasant experience.
