JANE, 25 YEARS

Hello, future Host Family!

My name is Jane, 19 years old and I'm the youngest child of 12 children in my family! The set up of my childhood was, I was the one who's always around to babysit and take care of my nieces and nephews, doing housechores - cleaning the house, washing dishes, laundry, cooking - and tutoring them with their assignments and be their be playmate. So pretty much I could say that I have the length of experience with childcare because I've been doing it since I was 10 up until now. I remember at the age of 10, I was the one taking care of my 5 and 6 months old niece amd nephew at the same time. I would feed them, bath them, change their diapers, sing lullaby to them till they fall asleep. They have always been in my life until they keep adding. Hehe. Today, I have 13 nephews and nieces. I usually take care of 7 of them all at once. Sometimes if I have enough money, I would bring 3 of them (5-8 years old) with me to the cinema, Jollibee (their favorite restaurant) and park to have picnics. The rest can have the leftpvers or takeout since i can't bring 7 of them with me. I mean i wish i could but the youngest is only 1 year old, then 2,3,4. Haha so maybe next time when they grow older :)

Kids to me have always been part of my life. I never had the chance to have a baby sibling (well coz of course my mom can't make another one anymore considering she already had 12 lol) so my longing and love to have a little sibling was transferred to my 13 nieces and nephews! It was a lot better and they're so many and still counting so I'm the most lucky and joyful person in the world to have them!

To my personality, I could say that i'm very patient, proven that I have been in childcare since I was 10 years old. I'm also diligent about "what I should do today" that would make a difference and make something new here and there if possible. I'm pretty organized in cleaning and tidying up because I was "trained" since I was 5 by my eldest sister who worked in Singapore as nanny. I'm also very active and adventurous! My sports are softball, basketball and volleyball. I used to be a softball varsity. I'm friendly by nature and I like making other people smile and laugh. I'm also very positive about life and I try to be as good person and understanding as I can be. Maybe it's one of the perks of being into Psychology. :)

The reason why I'm here looking for a host family and is aspiring to become an au pair is that, the thought of me to be able to take care and play with other people's kids and learn about their daily life and culture makes me feel such honor. I am so excited to meet and learn about them, get to know them, have memories together and all. To also share my values and passions with them - reading, music, photography, nature, adventure, traveling, life - and teach the kids about what I learned so far about life and warn them if necessary, give them tips too and advice of any particular situations where I also learned from my experienc to get them out of trouble. Also because I want to know how it feels like to live abroad and be a part of a foreign family. So I have decided to take 2 years off before I continue college and pursue Psychology. I believe this 2 years off will help me grow and become independent and will help me a lot to understand more about differences of people and their cultures.

To your kids, I want to be their big sister, teacher, playmate, and best friend for a certain period of time. It's more important to me that at the end of my au pairing, the host kids have learned something from me that they may use later in their lives. The thought of that makes me feel good, proud and excited and I really want it to happen.

So to my future host family, I want to stay with your family for as long as 2 years. And from your family, I will learn everything from your home and you will mean so much to me. I will owe you all the learnings I will learn and I will be forever thankful because of you all. I will forever love and care for you all so please treat me as family. :)
