ARLENE, 37 YEARS

Dear Future Host Family,

Good day! I'm Arlene Echanova Consul. I was born in Calapan City, Oriental MIndoro, Philippines. I'm currently living and working in Hongkong as a Domestic helper for a German-Taiwanese family of four.

I have three older brothers and a sister. One of my brother is working in Ethiopia as a teacher. My father is a construction worker while my mother do some farming and selling foods. My family is living in a neighborhood surrounded by rice fields and a few fish ponds. I consider myself lucky growing up in an environment like this where everything are fresh from food to the air you breathe. And the people are hospitable.

I'm taking care of two children here in Hongkong. The eldest is now 13 years old and the youngest is 10 years old. I've been with them for four years now. Basically, I'm the one helping them to prepare what they need to bring and et for school. Aside from doing household chores, I also help them with their homeworks. When we have free time we play and do some DIY's. We also go hiking when the weather is good. Sometimes I bring them to museums.

I grew up witnessing my parents hardwork. My goal in life is simple, to make and see my parents happy and proud. I want them to experience a better life. To build a beautiful house with complete furnitures, have a car and a farm of our own. Sometimes simple things are the ones that gives real joy to our hearts.

I enjoy having a long walk. I like to go hiking on my day-off. I also like playing badminton. But what I love doing the most is reading books. I like historical fiction, novel, crime and classic literature. My favorite book is Jave Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. My favorite authors are Paulo Coelho and Jane Austen. I also love music, basically every genre.

I want to be a nanny/aupair in Denmark because I believe there's a better opportunity there for me to achieve my dreams. And having a chance to mingle with different culture or races, it helps me broaden my life's perspective. :)
