GLADYS, 27 YEARS

Hello future host family, My name is Gladys from Kenya. I am 26 years old and currently living in Eldoret, Kenya. I have a Diploma in Caregiving and a certificate in Childcare Health and Safety. I am also trained in First Aid administration. I speak fluent English and Swahili. I have worked as a Caregiver for one year from March 2019 to May 2020 .The elderly lady was sick and the family needed someone who could help in taking care of her and below were my roles; * administering medicine *moving the bedridden patient to prevent bedsores *monitoring health condition * keeping company *helping with bathing and grooming. *light housekeeping. *Laundry *Cooking *General house organization I have always been passionate about cultural exchange, living in a new environment and spending time with different people.I have 3 year experience in childcare from June 2020 to August 2022 where I was taking care of a newborn until she was 2 years old and currently I have also been taking care of a 4 year old child since August last year to present,with my second family I have gained so many skills because I have been helping a child who is abled differently and this has really helped me improve my skills, I have been learning alot and this made me research more on Autism,Epilepsy,Down syndrome,ADHD and cerebral palsy.I learnt that this kids are abled differently they need someone understanding and aware of the situation.These are my roles *feeding the child *putting the baby to sleep * playing with her * cleaning her *cleaning the house *Laundry(Machine wash) *Cleaning the dishes *Ironing *Preparing kids snacks *Gardening *General house organization *Cooking I am also good at taking care of pets and I own a dog (Indian Spitz)at my parents. I feed, clean and take my dog for walks in the evening or in the morning.I am good with house chores some of which include cleaning the house, laundry, cleaning the dishes, cooking, ironing, preparing kids snacks, gardening and even general house organization. I am comfortable with taking care of children and any elder of any age. Some of my qualities include; flexible, fast learner, empathetic, time conscious, neat and easy going, adaptive and patient. During my free time I like to go swimming, cycling playing ball games and going for nature walks. I would like to become an au pair and elderly care because it will be a great opportunity for me to learn a new language and a new culture.This will also present me with an opportunity to handle responsibilities as an individual and this will boost my personal growth and productivity.
