MAUREEN, 30 YEARS

Dear Host Family,
My name is Maureen, 26 years old. I live alone in a single rented room in Nairobi, Kenya and am a University graduate since 2017.My parents live in the rural areas in Western area of Kenya but I visit them during the holidays. My four step brothers work in different parts of Kenya while my step sister is in Germany taking her masters.
In my free time, I like doing community work, help out in Kenya Children Home,taking road trips and taking care of my nieces or nephews. During the December holidays I took the children from Kenya children Home for hiking and we had a lot of fun playing hide and seek, doing face paintings, coloring and many more games. I also had a chance to organize for them an end of year party and I was so glad to see the joy this brought to them.I also love reading novels and researching on development issues and I can’t wait to have access to a library to browse through all the literature I like.
Becoming an AU PAIR has been part of my dream not only because of cultural exchange but also because it will be a great chance for me to gain child care skills that will help me both personally and career wise. It will also be a great chance to learn a new language.
Looking through your profile I was glad because of your simple and precise explanation of every member of your family and I would love to become your next Au Pair because I love children and enjoy spending time with them. Am well aware of the fact that being like a big sister for your children comes along with responsibilities for them and it will not always be just play and fun. My calm and patient personality will help me to handle more difficult situations.
I expect that in the first couple of days I will be exhausted at night because taking care of children the whole time can be tiring but I am sure that I will adapt to the new tasks and daily routine quickly and become a big help for you.
Living with me is really easy since I have grown up to appreciate the little things and chances I get and hence am not a demanding person. I do respect that you have your own house rules and if something works not quite as it should, I prefer to talk instead of ignoring things.
I have never spent longer time abroad but am used to not seeing my parents and siblings unless it's during holidays hence I may not become home sick and in case I do I can video call them during my free time.
