GRETA, 21 YEARS

Dear family, My name is Greta and I'm 18 years old. I was born in Italy, in Alghero, Sardinia, and have always lived here. In my family, we are 5, me, my mother, my father, my sister (22), and my brother (16). My family supports me in everything I do and they do their best to help me achieve my dreams. I have always enjoyed being with children, taking care of them and playing with them, in fact since I was 12 years old I have been taking care of my cousins. I also have other experience as I worked for an entire summer at a summer camp, where I took care of children ages 3-8. I would define myself as someone with an open mind, always ready to learn new things, polite and loving, responsible and friendly. I have played many sports, such as skating (my favorite), basketball, volleyball, swimming, and beach tennis. I am a senior in high school and will be graduating in June. I am also studying to get my driver's license. I honestly don't know what I would like to do in college yet, so I hope this gap year can help me clear my mind. I'll probably choose something related to languages, especially new ones for me, so oriental languages and especially Korean or Japanese. In my free time, I love to read, listen to music, hang out with friends and take care of my pets. What I love to do most, however, is travel. Besides Italy, I have been to Germany several times, Ireland, France, Spain, Egypt, Austria and Switzerland. I did an exchange year when I was 16 and spent a year in Switzerland where I learned to speak German. I loved my experience but unfortunately didn't get to complete it to the fullest due to the coronavirus. I have always loved meeting new people and learning their ways of life and their language, so I attend a language high school where I study English, German and French. I have a good level of English, a fairly good level in German, and a basic level of French. However, I decided to get out of my comfort zone and try cultures totally different from my own, and for this, my first choice is South Korea. Asia, in general, has always intrigued me and it has always been my dream to go there and maybe one day live there. Unfortunately, until now I haven't had the chance but I hope one day I will. In particular, I love South Korean culture and I would like to try to understand it more by experiencing it first hand, as it is totally different from my culture. I would love to find a host family that has the patience and desire to help me with my dream and on the other hand, I would be more than happy to help them with the kids and household chores.
