ALICE, 24 YEARS

Hi, dear future family!
I’m Alice Giorgia Gandolfi (but you can call me Ali), I’m currently 18 and I live in Monza, Italy, a small city next to Milan. I’m very curious, quick and I have a good sense of humour, which makes me fun to be around. I really like children, especially 5 to 10 year olders, but my brother Luca is only 4 years younger than me so I couldn’t fully live the experience to have a kid around when I wasn’t a kid myself. My parents are Marco, a cab driver, and Isabella, a teacher. I have a very good relationship with my dad, while with my mum it’s kinda hard to describe. We certainly love each other but we have opposite personalities, so!
I studied languages for a few years (I speak fluent English and Spanish, with a little bit of Japanese and Russian) before switching to my current school, where I study fashion. I don’t really like studying subjects I don’t deeply love, so this was the best choice for me: the linguistic high school came with high level maths and physics which I don’t really like.
I have so many hobbies and things I love I can’t possibly write them all here, but the ones I love the most are writing, doing drag, and horse riding. They are very time-consuming but they bring me so much joy I couldn’t live without them in my life.
I really hope I can become an au pair because I need to prove myself as a person, and being around children is nice, but also very hard. You have a lot of responsibilities, and I think I can handle all of them because in return, kids bring joy and reward. I love seeing them curious and active and talking to them is so much fun. I expect myself to be as happy as I can while doing things I love and getting to know a new family, a new country and a completely different life. I’m ready to start this new adventure, hoping it will bring me joy and wisdom.I’ve worked with children in a summer campus and I had so much fun! They were very attentive and responsive, and we were able to put on a really good show for their parents. I’ve never babysat though, and I’m looking forward to try something new and challenge myself. I hope living in the States as an aupair will get me to know more about American lifestyle, putting bases and creating a network to build my life there when my job will be over. As I said before, I have many interest. My main goal in life is to become a famous screenwriter and see my characters, stories and plays on the big screen. That’s why I thought America is the best country for me to stay in. I also have a deep curiosity for American culture and lifestyle, I’m so ready for all of this. There will be ups and downs, I know, but I think I am in the right mindset. I also really love dressing up and doing drag: studying fashion, I’m able to recreate some of my favorite characters from books and movies and dress up as them while performing. It’s very rewarding and there’s a huge drag scene in the US, especially in Los Angeles and New York, so I’m very much looking forward to prove myself in a challenging setting. Who knows, I might even become famous!
