MARIA, 28 YEARS

My name is Maria Laura Falcone and I am 21 years old. My current occupation is a second year university student at Northumbria University in Newcastle, England. I was born in Italy, and I am fluent in Italian and English. Although not a fluent speaker, I have a basic knowledge of French. Since I was 16 I left my country to be able to become independent and grow as an adult. In the years abroad, I lived in a boarding house in the UK. This gave me the opportunity to perfect my English but most importantly, I have learnt how to connect and relate with others. Being abroad has helped me to learn life lessons, but most importantly, it has helped me cherish and appreciate how important family means to me.
I consider myself to be a responsible adult that can easily adapt in different situations. I am a good listener and a quick learner as well. My primary education and middle school was based in Italy and my final two years of High School was concluded in the UK, achieving an outstanding level in the International Baccalaureate Diploma(IB).
Family is an important aspect of my life. I grew up in a family of four members and although it can be considered small for some, with them I have learnt important moral and ethical values that I carry with always.
I believe that I am suited for this job for all the above reasons, However, a critical aspect has made me realize my delight for working with people was the following: At a young age I sailed with big passion, taking me to National level competitions. After having adequate experience, since the age of 14 I started teaching with great joy young kids from 6-16 years old. Every time I have the opportunity or free time, to go home, I still do it with great dedication.
My hobbies are mostly sport oriented, from tennis, football and volleyball. However, I also like to read and travel.
