AMELIA, 26 YEARS

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. My name is Amelia and I’m 23 years old. I live with my parents, my sister, and my brother. I live in a small town in Cipanas Cianjur, West Java, Indonesia (Approximately 100.000 inhabitants). It is situated in the valley of Mount Gede, 86 km southeast of the Indonesian capital city of Jakarta. I completed a bachelor of psychology at Jenderal Achmad Yani University in March 2021. In about a year or two I plan to pursue a master's degree, but I haven't decided about my future area of specialization. So, right now, I would like to take a moment away from academia to get a different life experience and have time to calmly reflect on my future academic/professional orientation. For this purpose, I think spending a year abroad would be very interesting. I have good interpersonal skills, hardworking, and can handle pressure. I usually express my feelings through singing and playing guitar. I love doing different kinds of sports. I love to play futsal, exercise karate. I have won several tournaments in both sports. I trained kid karate and provide psychological support for kids who will compete. I also enjoy cooking, watching movies, and gardening. I belong to a harmonious family. I have a good relationship with my parents and with my siblings as well. I would love to become your next Au Pair because I love children and enjoy spending time with them. As the eldest sister, I assume the responsibility if my parents are not around and I am prepared and I am well aware of the fact what is like a big sister for your children comes along with responsibilities for them. My calm and patient personality will help me to master more difficult situations for instance when the kids are tired or don’t want to listen to me. I am expecting that becoming an au pair will enhance my skills in taking good care of children. I expect that in the first couple of days, I will be exhausted at night because I guess taking care of the children the whole time can be tiring. But I am sure that I will adapt to the new task and daily routine quickly and become a big help for you. Living with me is really easy as I am not a demanding person. I do respect that the house is your house and that I have to follow your house rules. If something works not quite as it should, I prefer to talk instead of ignoring things. I have never been abroad but I am used to not seeing either my dad or my mom for a long time so I don’t think I will become particularly homesick. I am really curious to hear all about you and your children. The information I have read so far sounds really interesting. I hope you like my letter and I can’t wait to hear back from you.
