DEAR FAMILY
Hello there,
I am an Indonesian, usually called Hida. I'm originally from a small town but now I live in the capital city of Jakarta because of work. I am 26 years old. I'm fond of languages and cultures.
I used to babysit my brother when he was small. I also have an older sister, who is now married. I don't have any experience aboard before. I have babysat my little cousins, although not full-time, since I was thirteen until last year when I moved to Jakarta. My hobbies are reading, writing, and like to learn new things.
At home, my day /week normally (in general) looks like this:
- I get up around 4.15 am every day since I have to do early morning prayer then I recite the Quran (Islamic holy book). I'd like to inform you that as a Muslim, I do pray five times a day.
- Normally I go to work, but for now, I'm in unpaid leave because of the current situation of coronavirus.
- I sleep around 9.30 - 10.00 pm every day (not too late)
My preferred parenting style is when parents care about education, not only general but also spiritual/religious education (if they believe in anything). I also like it when parents let the children explore (learning by doing), not spoiling the children, and telling about moral values.
At home, I have no 'official' duties but I help with light home care, such as cleaning, assisting in cooking, sometimes watering the plants, look after my cousins, occasionally drop them to and take them from schools if needed.
My favourite dishes are some European food like burgers and pizza and (of course!) Indonesian food which is rich with spices!
I can't ride a car but I can ride a motorcycle, so I have a driving licence for riding motorcycles only.
I never go abroad, that's why I want to be an au pair. Also, taking care of foreign children seems nice and can help me learn about new cultures. Basically I'm open to any countries, not just the countries which have listed on my profile.
I hope to gain childcare experience (which I think will teach me a lot, including patience), learning language(s) and cultures from being an au pair.
My perfect host family would be of course a loving family which is not only the parents love the children and the children love the parents, but also they love the au pair, doing things together.
When working with children I find it most rewarding when they like me, care for me, obey me and call me in a proper way.
While in the host country, I’d like to see/visit anywhere! (including mountains and beaches). In my free time / on weekends / during holidays, I’d like to stay at home mostly. But when it comes to live abroad, I hope I can go outside more, like meeting friends, travelling, and learning the language.
To introduce you to my culture, I’d like to cook typical meals for you, teach traditional songs, languages and games to your children.
When I finish au pairing, I hope my language skill will be improved, and hopefully, learn another language, open my mind with diversity and others which I haven't explored yet.
After my au pair experience, I’d like to return to my country to go back to work.
