ISABELLE, 22 YEARS

About me:
I am a very open-minded person, who is always positive and optimistic. I would say that I have great humour, like laughing and having fun with everyone. I would also describe myself as goal-oriented and motivated if I want to achieve something. My friends and family say that I am realistic and question things, but you can have a lot of fun with me.
I love being outdoors and doing active stuff, even though I am not that sporty anymore, due to the Coronavirus pandemic and a broken foot not so long ago. Nevertheless I am an active person, who would say no to almost nothing, except maybe bungee jumping :D
Generally I am interested in international and national politics, the climate change and other important topics that affect the world.

Hobbies:
In my free time I used to cycle a lot, but with the lockdown, sadly I don't do it that often anymore. I also used to go to the gym 3 times a week, but not that it is closed I do workouts at home. I really like dancing, even though I am not really good at it haha.... Furthermore I like to read a lot, mainly English books and science magazines, because I am very interested in medicine, biology and nature in general. Music is a huge part of my life, because I love to sing and have played the piano since I was 6. Additionally I own a Nintendo switch and a playstation, which I use for example for Mario kart races with my sister.

Child experience:
I have taken care of a girl since she has been 2 years old. She is now six and I have watched over her every 3-4 weeks, when her parents were busy. Her mother is a colleague of my mother. I play games with her, entertain her in general and prepared dinner. She was a very sweet girl and we had lots of fun.

I also took care of three kids in one family, who needed a lot of help. The children are now 6(girl), 10(boy) and 13(girl) and I watched over them once a week from 2018 to March 2020. Then it got a bit complicated, due to Covid-19. Nevertheless I have been watching over them a few times, just not as frequently as usual. I know the family from a former classmate of mine, who told me that they were looking for someone who could help them in the house and with the kids. They are a family with 5 children, so they needed a lot of help. Of course I only took care of the smaller children. The older ones are now 18 and 19.
In the house I did all work you could think of, I helped clean the kitchen, tidy up things and doing the children's laundry. I played with them outdoors and indoors, took them to the park and went to the waterpark/swimming pool with them. The smaller girl, who was four when I started taking care of her was a bit more difficult, than the others, because she didn't always listen, but I think I managed it fine. I helped her in the bathroom, brushing her teeth, bathing and changing clothes.
The parents have been divorcing, which was stressing for the whole family, so I could help them out a bit. Nevertheless I have a great relationship with both parents and did activities with both of them and the children.

My languages:
My first language is German and I have lived in Germany my whole life. Still, I have been travelling to a lot of places, including Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Marokko, Denmark, Sweden, France, Switzerland and Austria. We did a lot of family trips and I also had many class trips, because I went to a language school.
In my school I had English, French and Spanish. I took the advanced exam in English at my finals (Abitur) and have a level of B2-C1.
My level at Spanish at French is not very good, because we never actually practiced speaking in school. Nevertheless I have basic communication skills in Spanish.

My family:
My family consists of four people, my mother, her new boyfriend and my 14-years-old sister. My parents divorced in 2019 and I do not have contact with my father due to personal reasons. My sister and I are very close and spend a lot of time together, playing chess, going on walks, singing together or watching tv and playing Nintendo. Post-Covid we used to be a lot more active, going to the park for long walks or skating. We also went into the city with her or my best friend and spend time together. I help her with her homework, when she has questions. She is currently in 9th grade.

My mother is a psychologist and my father is a doctor, so I think that's where I have my interest in medicine from. My mother is a great cook and baker and I was able to learn a lot from her, even though I am not half as good as her yet.

We also have 5 cats, one dog and a bunny, who we all love very much :). We have a big house, so there is no problem having all of them around. I would say they that they like each other very much, even the cats cuddle with our bunny. Therefore I am quite animal loving and I would love going to a host family with pets!

My education:
I graduated from ''high school'', which is called ''Gymnasium'' in Germany, in July 2020 and had my Abitur (A-levels). In October 2020 I started a pre-semester of medicine at a private med school in Leipzig and graduated there in February 2020. I currently study a criminology correspondence degree course of study.
In winter I am thinking about studying medicine, biology or European studies, because I am interested in languages and Europe politics as well.
