SHERMAINE, 30 YEARS

Dear Host family,

My name is Shermaine Keiann Panela, a 24 yrs old girl from the Philippines. I have an education as a Pharmacist and been working with children as a babysitter for almost 6 years.
Back in 2015, I worked as a baby sitter with my Danish family who move in Dubai. The father (Kristian) is a pilot in one of the biggest Dubai Based Airlines, that was the reason the entire family moved there, Mother ( Birthe) is a Doctor by profession, they have 3 kids Marius (10), Anna (6) and Anders (8 months), I have learned a lot of Danish cultures from Them though I havent been to Denmark but they still Practice and speak Danish at home, i have learned some words and Can understand a bit through kids, they where so sweet and loving and I love Them so much. Everyday Our morning routine was to (me) prepare good healthy breakfast, help the kids dress up and we sit and Eat together, help Them to get ready to School, brush teeth and make their lunch pack. I do sometimes deliver or pick them up at the school but depends on the availability of both parents. Since Kristian was always flying and having long flights and mom sometimes on duty at the hospital , the kids are with me the whole night until they come home. I usually help them put to bed, read stories. Etc. The family have decided to move back to Denmark after almost 3 years. They wanted me to moved with them and process my paper as an au pair but sadly I can’t for the reason that I have to take care of my dying mom so I decided to come back to the Philippines. I also used to have an extra job as a babysitter with 2 kids (Mira 10 mons.) And (Emil 4 years old). When i was in college I used to help this family everyday, to pick up the kids from their house and bring them to kinder and child care center, and then I go to my classes. Every afternoon I will pick them up and walk home and give them some healthy food while parents are not home yet. Sometimes we go to the playground, or if its bad weather we do some home activities like drawings, indoor play, coloring books or paintings.I also bake some cake together with Emil or we sometimes make some pancakes. We always have cozy time together and we were sad both me the kids and the family when I had to leave them after I finished schooling because I have to find a job.
My mother passed away not so long ago, and my father took all the responsibility and provided our needs, so I was tasked to look after my siblings while he was out working.


As a big sister, I took the responsibility of doing the household chores. Cleaning, doing some laundries, cooking, looking after my sister/brother. I love cooking, I worked as a kitchen assistant in my uncles small restaurant every summer, I learned how to prepare/cook different cuisines like thai, mexican,indian, chinese and italian. During my spare time I spent some afternoons with my niece and nephews, helping them with their assignments and sometimes babysitting.


I would like to become your au pair because I love children and enjoy spending time with them.
I am prepare and I am well aware of the fact that being like a big sister for your children comes along with responsibilities for them and it will not always be just play and fun. My calm and patient personality will help me to master difficult situations.


To be an au pair is a big opportunity, I would love to learn and observe new culture and traditions. I want to explore and try new things, and of course to meet new people. It would be a great experience and I would be very proud to share those learnings to my family back in philippines.
