Dear Host Families,
Greetings!

My name is Jess Roland B. Avenue, 30 years old. I am a single Filipino. I took up a short course assistance nurse (Caregiving NCII) at Center for Healthcare Profession. I am a cheerful and loving person who is always looking for new activities and new experiences. I am a driven person that have a strong of sense of responsibility, simple, kind and caring. During my free time, I like to listen to music, singing and reading educational books or novel. I also like to ride bicycle, hiking, swimming and playing sports such as volleyball and badminton. I also love to jog in the early morning to start the day with fresh and full of energy. And most of all I love to travel so much. I’ve been to some places and provinces here in our country Philippines. I love to go to beaches and mostly I love nature. I am an active member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) and I have a function as a Secretary member in our Church. I attend our worship service regularly and participate activities in our church such as Bible studies and expeditions and social activities and community activities.

I came from a big family. My parents are Rolando Avenue and Julieta Avenue they had five children. My brother is Ryan Avenue 31 years old. My sisters are Euneva Jane Avenue 28 years old, Rhojyn Avenue 22 years old and Julie Shekinah Avenue 19 years old. My father work as a
Carpenter and my mother work as a Sale Assistant in a store. I’ve been working as a Personal Assistant or a Caregiver in a family here in Butuan City. My brother Ryan is training in a Philippine Army to become a soldier. My sister Euneva has own Family now. My sisters Rhojyn and Julie Shekinah is still studying now in my parent’s guidance. I live now in Butuan City to work with my Aunty Luzviminda and her family for a year now. Sometimes helping them in household chores, cooking and gardening. But due to Enhanced Community Quarantine I went home and living with my parents as of the moment. I grew up in a small town in Butuan City, located in the North East of Mindanao, my hometown is beautiful it is because of nature and lots of greenery. Having close family ties is one of unique traits of Filipino values, taking each other and to be loyal to family and elders by simply respecting and obeying their authorities. My parents taught me the way of living on how to engage in simple household chores, cook simple meal and do dishes and do laundry. But most of all they taught me on how to respect other people and be humble all the time. My life is really amazing with my Family.

I have experienced in taking care of Elderly named Gerardo Padernal, Remedios Bubuli (my Grandma), Jospeh Bonggot and my Uncle Melvin Bubuli that has a Cancer. Mostly I have been exposed in Elderly Care to my Previous Employer Gerardo and my Gandma. I helped them on daily basis such as preparing simple meals, guiding them to walk and exercise, watching television together, accompany them smelling fresh air from the garden, accompany them eating their meal, give them an extra care or massage before put to bed and help them bath and grooming.

I am loving grandson, I accompany my Grandma in the house and do household chores and enjoy cooking simple meals and help her do the dishes. She’s been good and can stand alone before tragedy happened when she got stroke and paralyzed. But so sad my grandmother past away last April 2018. I’m going to miss her when I am alone and when I remember her.

I am currently an Au Pair here in The Netherlands, the main task is helping my host family for preparing their foods, do the groceries and do the laundry as well. My contract here will end on this coming October. If you have more questions about my experience here in Netherlands then we can set the time and day for an Interview. I can also provide a reference if needed.

If still given a chance, I want to go to Norway or Denmark because I want to be continued my Au pair Journey because it has an age limit, and which is only 30 years old. It would be wonderful opportunity to learn more about Denmark or Norway, their language, the people and the culture in general. I was inspired of the great stories of my cousin told me when she was an Au pair in The Netherlands. And I do believe becoming an Au pair is a great opportunity for young boys and girls like me to learn and gain more experience and confidence in Europe. I am hoping that you will give me a chance to continue my dreams and be part of your family for a period of time. Thank you so much for taking time to read my letter.
