MAE, 29 YEARS

Dear Future Host Family, My name is Mae, a 29-year-old individual, I pride myself on being adaptable, cheerful, loving, empathetic, responsible, creative, open-minded, family-oriented, nurturing, and flexible. These qualities have not only shaped my personal character but have also influenced my professional background in interior design. There is this quote in the movie Lilo & Stitch, “Ohana Means Family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.” I am blessed that I grew up with loving and kind Parents who teach us daily to cherish and love each other as Family is all we have. My parents taught me a responsibility as early as 13 years old, to take care of my brother. From changing his diapers to taking him to school while bringing his bag full of notebooks and books, preparing his breakfast and lunch, having lunch with him during his lunch break and asking how his morning activities went, to picking him up after class and asking how was his afternoon classes went, seeing him having crushes during elementary, to hearing him complain why Americans conquered and brought School to the Philippines up ‘til now, watching him grow as a teenager who’s a little bit serious now in life. In addition to my interior design background, I am an open-minded and creative thinker. I believe in the power of imagination and staying connected with my inner child, which naturally aligns with the joys of childcare. My hobbies include cooking and baking, allowing me to share delicious moments and create memorable experiences with your family. Learning new languages is also one of my hobbies through Duolingo, currently learning Spanish and Dutch. I love to take care of pets too since we have a loving and affectionate dog and a cat who is the polar opposite of our dog in our household who loves to eat, play, and snuggle, I also prioritize my well-being through regular workouts, ensuring I bring a healthy and energetic spirit to my responsibilities. Beyond my professional aspirations, I am on a personal journey to find my true self outside of my comfort zone. The prospect of experiencing life in another culture excites me, and I am confident that this adventure will not only contribute to my personal growth but also create lasting bonds with my future host family.
