RESPONSIBLE YOUNG MAN WITH EXPERIENCE IN CARE
I'm an Independent 19-year-old with experience in the caretaking of children. More specifically, I have a younger brother with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD.

I have transferred my knowledge of general care of my brother into my current job as a caretaker for children with similar disorders and other special needs at a local residency. I'm not specifically searching for a household with children of special needs - but I assess myself to be a great asset in such a case.

In general, I'm very patient and dutiful. I moved out to my own apartment at the age of 17, so I have above average knowledge in various household tasks (when comparing to age-appropriate individuals) that I may be able to help with.

In addition, I am fluent in English, as I have lived in California for a period of 2.5 years. I see this a an advantage for any household that wishes to improve their children's English skills. I have studied spanish in school, but my skills so far are very limited if I were to have a conversation in spanish.

MY PERSONALITY
_____________________
I would describe myself as very outgoing and helpful. I'm not the kind of person to back down from a challenge - i see pride in being trusted to do various tasks (even if completely new ones).

I'm born with a natural urge to explore the World and different cultures - and I plan to do so in my future. In my ideal life, i'm not bound to being in a single place for the rest of my life.

From the last year or so I've learned a lot about myself through my current job. I'm now certain that i can overcome most challenges i could risk facing in life - and i'm seeking new challenges as an international au pair.

MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS
______________________
Of my entire family, my brother is without a doubt the closest to me. He's 1.5 years younger than me, so we've been very close throughout our entire childhood. He's diagnosed with ASD and ADHD, so he's had his fair share of challenges along the way. I feel lucky to have had my brother throughout my childhood. I believe that knowing him, as well as his challenges, has made me more mature and understanding as a person - i wouldn't change it for anything in the world.

I have a very close bond to my mother as well. I have most of my positive qualities from her. She works with adults with special needs and loves her job, which i think describes her pretty well as a person.

I have plenty of friends i like to see in my spare time, but i have 4-5 very close friends that i spend most of my time with. I value my friendsships above most else.

MY EDUCATION
_____________________
I graduated from "Silkeborg Gymnasium" in 2020. It's a 3-year-long education which enables being able to study at a university. I had Math and Physics as my primary subjects, but i had a general interest for the humanitarian subjects as well.

I've spent the last 9 months working as a full-time worker at a local residence for children, teens and adults with special needs. Most of whom are diagnosed with ASD or attachment disorders. I value the experience from my current job as much more valuable than my education for a family that seeks a caring au pair.

WHAT I DO IN MY FREE TIME
_____________________________
I use most of my free time in company with my friends. Ideally, i'd prefer if there were good oppurtunities to make new friends whilst being an au pair for your family.

When i'm alone however, i like to fiddle with designs or ideas for small inventions and other miscellaneous items. I like to 3D-print my inventions and improve them. A whole day can easily be spent doing this!

I also work out and occasionally go for a run.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH KIDS
________________________________
I've spent most of my life taking care of my younger brother as i have written about under "My Family and Friends". I have, however, had an actual job as a babysitter for a younger kid throughout a year back in 2015. I was originally tasked with having to help with homework, but our relation quickly became very friendly - and thus, my tasks became more comparable to that of a bigger brother.

As stated, i currently work full-time at a local residence for children, teens and adults with several different diagnoses. My current job has given me a professional understanding of what it means to take care of someone - whilst still allowing me to provide emotional care. I'm at a loss for words in terms of describing what my current job has given me, BUT i know that my personal development has been greatly improved and affected.

MY LAGUAGE SKILLS
________________________
I was born, and currently live, in Denmark. I speak Danish natively.

I have lived (2006-2009) in California, United States, where i attended 1. class of elementary school. My oral english skills have stuck with me ever since. I have had english as a fixed subject in school as well, so my written english has been improved over the years. I'm fluent in english.

I studied spanish for three years as a voluntary subject while at "Silkeborg Gymnasium". I can understand most written spanish, but am quite slow at understanding oral spanish. I would love to be able to improve my spanish - it's one of the dreams i have.

MY MOTIVATION
_______________________
I have a core motivation for becoming an au pair from the exchange of culture (and hopefully language) that it would bring me by becoming your au pair. I wish to explore the world, and becoming an au pair seems to be the perfect fit for a person like me, as i enjoy all of the challenges that follow in working with people.

I also have a smaller, (but quite large) wish of becoming fluent in spanish. If i were able to become an au pair in a spanish-talking country, then i would be overjoyed!

MY EXPECTATIONS
_______________________
First of all, i expect mutual respect between me and your family. I imagine working for about 25-38 hours a week with my tasks being anything that makes the routine(s) of the child(ren) flow easier for your family: Help with homework, babysitting, support in freetime activities, travel to/from school, preparing food, cleaning, etc. This is much of what already i do with my current job :)

I'd love to have a personal and friendly relationship to you and your family. I'd much rather prefer working in a relaxed and familiar setting than an 'uptight' one.

Lastly, i expect that i have enough spare time to be able to explore nearby cities/nature or landmarks on my own. If your family is the adventurous type, then i'd love to explore with you too.
