JUANA, 20 YEARS

Dear hosts, I introduce myself. My name is Juana Camargo, I'm 18 years old and for some time now I have been very interested in being an "Au Pair". I previously had experience with children and I must say that I love them as much as I do with animals. In fact, for you to get to know me a little better, I would love to study veterinary medicine after I finish this beautiful experience. I hope we get to know each other better, and that you can help me make this dream possible. I have always considered myself a very cheerful person, in addition to this, I'm very extrovert and I also consider myself very kind. I have always stood out for being very independent and hard-working. Also, I'm very sensitive and in many cases, I can become a perfectionist. I feel that I have a very beautiful heart and that I can really connect very easily with people. Right now I'm in school but in June I'll graduate. I study in a bilingual school so I speak English very well, but since I was also quite interested in Italian, I decided to take separate classes of it. I plan to study veterinary medicine as soon as I finish this au pair experience and as I am always a very active person, I usually work during my school holidays. I've had the opportunity to be in three different vacation jobs, set up my little business and help my mother with the virtual part of her work. Since I was little I have had experience with children. Although I have never worked as a nanny, since I was younger as I mentioned, I used to stay all long vacations at my mom's best friend's house taking care of her two children and on top of that, over time, I have had four little cousins and whenever I get the chance to see them, I love spending time with them and taking charge. In fact, right now I have a two-year-old cousin who I love very much and I love being with her. My first language is Spanish, since I am from Colombia. Since I was very young I have been in a bilingual school which has given me the opportunity to know English very well and to be able to communicate through that language very easily. Over time, I realized that I wanted to learn another language and I fell in love with Italian. In fact, I have an uncle who is Italian and he helped me to attract more attention to this language and its beautiful culture. With Italian, I must say that I still have a very basic level and I still can't hold a conversation in this language but for that I am taking classes and I hope soon I can do it and get to know this beautiful culture much more in depth. My motivation as an Au Pair started when my best friend's sister did it by going to Germany. From then on I kept dreaming but I didn't know how it worked, or what language to do it with or where. Over time, my best friend told me that she planned to do it in France and she explained to me in more detail how it was. She was fascinated because I could have the opportunity to go to one of the two destinations that I liked and spend time with children who also caught my attention. I decided that I would be an Au Pair this year taking advantage of the fact that I have already graduated and that I will be able to have time to live this experience without worrying about the school or leaving the university aside. My goal as an Au Pair is mainly to get to know the culture. Being with a family I can really feel how it feels to live in another continent with its culture, as well as what life is like away from home and learn a third language. In addition to that, I would also like to be useful to them and make them feel that they really have a person who wants to be with their children and who is really interested in taking advantage of this experience. My expectations as an au pair are mainly to be able to learn about a new culture and to learn a third language. Besides that, I want to have a great relationship with the whole family. I love Italy and I want to be able to get to know it as much as I can and I really hope that a nice connection with the children is achieved since it is what I most aspire to.
