DANIA, 29 YEARS

Dear family,

My name is Dania, I'm 22 years old and I'm from Bogota, Colombia. I would like to describe myself by this letter. My dream has been to live and study in a new country, because I love the idea to get to know about new cultures, different points of view and even better, to show my own culture to the world. I would be glad and grateful to make this dream come true.

My family is my mother, my father and my dog. My mother is a housewife, she is an intelligent, respectful and nice woman. She has always been there to me and she helped me to be the great woman that I am. My father is retired, he is a kind, generous and a little bit grumpy, but he has a heart of gold. And my dog, he is 2 and he is always happy.

I have a good relationship with my parents, we sometimes have our differences, but we always fix them talking.

Now, I'm going to talk about myself: I love music, I like to dance. I like to learn new things, I like to read and I like to meet new people. I studied languages at La Salle university, because I always wanted to learn more and more about different cultures and I want to learn more languages. Then, during my career I discovered that I am good at teaching, so I became a treacher. Now, I work in an institut and I teach English to people from all ages, including kids, so I'm really patient, respectful and kind, I'm always willing to help them.

I had experience with kids, since I was 16, because when I was at High School I helped children between 5 and 11 with their homeworks and I took care of them. It was a really great experience, because it was cute the way they went to me during the breaks ang hug me because they felt grateful.

When I was in university, in 2013 I was volunteer in a foundation that helps kids with cancer, so what I did was to play with them (soccer, running, etc), cheer them up, make them laugh, coloring books, etc. I also colected plastic tops and divide them by colors, because the foundation recycles this tops and then sells them, because thanks to that they could give the kids food and pay for the household. It was a one of the best experience that I've ever had, because it made me see life in a different way and to appreciate every person and moment that I have. But at the same time it was paintful, because one of the kids died, I just saw him twice and I couldn't see him smiling, in that moment I felt hepless, because I couldn't do anything to save him, but at least I know that he is in a better place and he is not suffering anymore.

Lastly, I did my internship in a public school. I taught French to children between 5 and 11 years old. I'm kind and patient, but I also have a strong character, and most of these children needed that, because they didn't have that. I realized that they were so lack of love and attention that they were disobedients and sometimes violent because of it. So, in the time that I taught them, they changed and they started to act in a different way, because I treated them with love, I never yelled them, on the contrary, I sat next to them and talked to them. And I also taught their teacher to treat them like kids and show them love, because she didn't care about their well-being, so she changed too.

I want to work as an Au Pair, because I would like to teach Spanish to children (if you want it, I could teach you too) and I would like to learn a different language. I would like to contribute in their development, to teach them values, to be themselves and helping them to be better everyday. I would also like that they learn about my culture (Colombian♥), cooking to them some typical food and to get to know about yours as well. I like reading, so I would love reading them books, I'll love to play soccer with them and specially to make them laugh, because I'm good at it.
