ESTHER, 32 YEARS

Dear host family,

Hi! My name is Esther, I’m from North-east of China. I am a post graduate student, and I will graduate this June majored in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. I love my major, as I want more people to know about China, about Chinese culture and learn some Chinese. Also I enjoy learning different cultures and languages, it’s just an amazing thing to understand more about the world.

I have been teaching Chinese for three years while I am studying. From March, 2016 to March, 2018, I was working in Korea as a Chinese teacher for two years. I not only teach students Chinese, but also Chinese cultural, such as teaching them how to cook Chinese food, how to sing Chinese songs, how to weave string bracelet, how to write calligraphy and so on. I treasure the experience in Korea a lot, I overcame the language and culture problems, tried to live a good life alone overseas. In return, I understood more about Korean culture and learned Korean language, knew many Korean students and Korean friends. Now I am preparing my thesis and wait for my future host family!

I was born in a teachers’ family, my grandfather, grandmother, my father and my mother are all universities’ professors. I guess that’s why I want to be a teacher in the future as well, but now, I prefer to have more different experience and explore the world. I have had dogs, birds and rabbits as my pets. I love animals, I regard them as my friends.

I have many habits, such as volleyball, badminton, basketball, skiing, skating, swimming, singing, playing piano and drum. And I’m very outgoing, so no matter your kids are boys or girls, I could have fun with them. And I love travelling, so far I’ve been to Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Maldives, Thailand and Korea.

I really love kids, they are pure, cute, simple, kind and creative, they can make me to use a different angle to see the world, to think about things. And the experience of teaching different ages of students, let me know how to get on well with different ages of person. I would like to try my best to understand your kids and take good care of them. I can speak standard Mandarin, and because I’m a Chinese teacher to foreigners, so if you or your kids are interested in Chinese language, I can give you a very professional Chinese “class” with a lot of fun! Also I can make Chinese dishes, we can share our specialty and exchange cooking experience.

The reason about I apply this au pair program, firstly, as I said is because I really enjoy exploring this world, I want to use my limited life to see unlimited things, to broaden my horizon. I want to know more about different cultures, to understand different people’s thinking. I like Europe, it’s both modern and historical, prosperous and tranquil. After my first time traveling to Europe, I knew I would come back again someday. So I’d like to choose here to start my au pair life. Secondly, I will have my own family and my children someday, so I would like to see how western people educate their kids. To feel it, to learn it, to be in the environment and experience it. Thirdly, I’m very interested in learning languages (even different Chinese dialects), I want to learn as many languages as I could in my life. And to know more languages may help me for my career.
