CREATIVE AUPAIR SEEKING CULTURAL EXCHANGE
Hello! It's nice to meet you. My name is Ruth and I am 19 years old. I am a budding film-maker, artist, writer, animator, poet, singer/song-writer etc. My goal is to film, document and create a soundtrack for my travelling of the world.
I want to be an Au Pair abroad because when I am older and I have my own children, I can care for their needs accordingly with the experience I have gained looking after other people's children. I also want to be introduced and adapt to different cultures so I can learn new and better ways of living.
My previous job was at an Elderly Day Care Centre, near where I live in England. This job developed my communication and first aid skills. This involved being attentive to their needs, listening well, and keeping the clients entertained through organising and delivering games.
I have also volunteered with children at my local library in order to help them out with reading as well as done some baby sitting from time to time
Also to note, I have grown up with my wonderful mildly autistic older brother and feel confident in caring and willing to learn how to look after others with special needs. I have grown up with three other siblings with a two year age gap between each so we are closely knit. My mother is a single parent thus I have experience working with and caring for her. Throughout my life, I have had many pets, including cats, dogs, hamsters, rabbits, gerbils etc, and thus feel competent with their care also.
For two months, I worked with an elderly couple - the husband of whom had serious autism. I had to think on my feet and assist with delivering medication and cleaning in their own home.
My time volunteering in South Korea has given me a love for travel, and also a concern to help people thrive. I have spent 2 months improving people’s English, and this has given me a passion to carry on travelling and being responsible for the care and the attention I give others.
I want to become an Au Pair abroad because I feel that the opportunities in England will not challenge me and I would not reach my potential.
