A FRIENDLY ARGENTINE GIRL
Dear future host family,
My name is Victoria I am 28 years old and I live in Buenos Aires with my mother, my father and one of my sisters and my two pets Kira, my little dog, and Floki, my cat. My mother's name is Celia and she used to work as a first level teacher. Like my mother, both of my sisters are teachers as well. My father's name is Héctor and he works as an employee in a remis Agency. We are a very close, sociable and communicative family. My family is not so large but we never miss the opportunity to spend time altogether. I have one cousin on my mother´s side and I ´ve two cousins from my father´s side. Three of my closest friends have children and I really love them. During summers we use to go to a week-end house a friend has. I really enjoy spending time with the children, talking with them (I love their imagination!), playing and doing crafts together or going to the pool.
When I finished high school, my first work was as a private teacher for a six years old kid, I learn a lot during that time and I really enjoy it. It was extremely challenging for me since I had never taught before and I was teaching how to learn to write and read! Luckily everything went ok, and I really love the experience. I believe that kids learn a lot of us, but we learn more from them than we think. To me, it's wonderful see them growing up with us and learning, little by little, to be more independent.
Regarding my studies, after leaving high school I decided to study International trade since I have always been really interested in international exchange. Being in contact with people all around the word allowed me understand and learn from another cultures. But I ´ve always wanted to experience the opportunity to live abroad and being part of another culture. I believe people all around the word has something to teach us. I have always been very active and hardworking, so when I got the opportunity, I started a pastry course. I really love cooking so I’ve always been in charge of the family dinners and, of course, birthday cake! I love preparing special cookies, bundtcakes, tarts for tea hour. In relation with this I’ve always been in charge of my friend´s children’s birthdays sweet table, and I love preparing it with extreme dedication. Seeing surprised faces of the children, was one of the most gratifying feeling I’ve ever experienced.
Last year, I have a chat With Sofía, who used to be a work colleague that is now living in UK. She told me about her experience being an Au pair and she gave me the boost I needed to jump into this experience. She knows me well and she remarked that this would be a great experience for me since I'm a very motherly, responsible and loving person, furthermore, I really love kids, so this year I decided to fulfill my dream of being an au pair. Luckily, my Family support my decision and they are very happy for me. I can´t wait to have the opportunity to learn a new language, meet your lifestyle, your habits and your country. And what better way than doing what I love!
I have experience in caring for children from 4 years and older, girls and boys too. I used to take care of my cousin´s child on some weekends during 1 year. The experience was great. I used to prepare breakfast and have it together, help them to get dressed, going to the pool or play with them. We also used to cook together something for the tea hour. He loved my brownies recipe.
If you want to know a bit more about me, let me tell you that I also love reading books and newspaper every day when I have some leisure time, listening to the music, traveling and learning about other cultures and ways of life, meeting new people, talking and sharing experiences, going out with friends or preparing lunch or dinner with my family or with my friends too. I like healthy eating, cooking and trying new flavors but, therewith, I love making cakes and butter or chocolate cookies, brownies, cheesecakes and fruit smoothies. I love teaching children how to prepare funny desserts and dishes.
I am so excited with the opportunity to know you better and to be a member of your family. I hope you had fun reading my letter and knowing a bit more about me and my dream.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Best wishes,
Vicky!
