Dear future host family,

with the help of this letter I want give you a first impression about me and my life.
My name is Chiara and I live in a small town near Stuttgart which is in the south of Germany. Since my parents have been divorced I live together with my mother, my dog and my rabbit. Unfortunately I don’t have any siblings but I really enjoy spending time with my little cousins. My favorite hobby is sports. Especially gymnastics, dancing, climbing and swimming are sports I really enjoy but it’s very easy to get me excited about other sports as well and I would love to share this hobby with you and your children if possible! Meeting my friends and traveling are also my favorite things to do. In June 2020 I graduated from an international economics school with my A-Level qualifications. After my time as an Au pair I would like to visit university and study languages. In the course of getting my driver’s license and my part time job at a trampoline hall in my town, I took part at a first aid course. I got my drivers license in July 2018 and I’m driving my car almost daily since that day. Unfortunately I don’t have that much experience with cooking or washing but I‘m definitely willig to learn it! I would give my best to learn it as fast as possible. But I have a little bit of experience in cleaning because of my part time job.
Now I would like to tell you something about my childcare experience. I‘ve been working as an Aupair in Spain for the last 3 months. I took care of 3 girls aged 14-8.
6 years ago I started to teach children aged 4 to 6 in sports in a sports club every week for about 2 hours. I also spent my last 3 summer holidays working in a camp with kids and teenagers. We spent much time with painting, playing and cooking together. From October 2019 till March 2020 I spent my free afternoons at my old middle school teaching children in grade 6 and 7 in French and Spanish and helping theme with the pronunciation.
Last year I also helped some refugees practicing German by giving theme extra lessons. I also have much experience with children from my part time job at the trampoline hall, where I teach kids how to do front flips or backflips on a trampoline.
I would describe my self as open-minded, creative, ambitious, good organized and helpful. Besides I‘m very punctual.
In conclusion I want to answer the question why I would love to become an Au pair.
First of all I recognized that I really enjoy spending time with kids and teenagers. It’s a possibility for me to be creative while organizing games and planing activities. I also love to see their happiness whenever they achieve something new and see how they grow up. Moreover I‘m interested in Iceland since I‘m about 12 years old. I got a book with information about Iceland for my birthday which really fascinated me. Traveling is one of my favorite hobbies as I mentioned above and I love to learn about new cultures. For this reason I already spend a a month in Japan in a host family and did a road trip though the US with my best friend last summer. I love taking part in student exchanges and hosting foreign students. That’s a reason why I would love to get to know the Icelandic way of live and learn as much as possible about the culture and traditions. I would definitely love to become a part of this. Spending a while abroad would be an amazing experience for me to become more independent and self-confident during this time and to gain more childcare experience as well as improving my language.
