ANNA, 24 ÅR

My name is Anna, I am 18 years old and I am from Solingen, a city near Cologne in the west of Germany.
I live in a suburban settlement with my family which consists of my mother Annette (47), my father Markus (45), my sister Katrina (11) and my cat Pepper (9).
My family is very important to me and I am looking for a host family that can give me a feeling of a second home.

I graduated from school in July of 2017 and I am currently volunteering at a kindergarten until july of 2018.

I am an open-minded and enthusiastic person who loves trying and learning new things!
I want to become an au pair because I think that there is not anything more fulfilling than working with children and learning about a different culture at the same time!
If you want to hire an au pair who is passionate about what they are doing and loves to be included in the family, I think I might be the perfect au pair for you!


When I was around 10 years old, I started caring for my little sister, who was 3 years old back then, because I had to pick her up from kindergarten and play with her when I came home from school.
In 2014, I had a 3 week internship at a kindergarten, where I had to care for childre of the age from 4 to 5. I read to them, we went to the playground together, I helped preparing meals and I comforted them. I was straight up enthusiastic about the work with children and sure that that is what I want to do after school.
In August of 2017 I started volunteering at another kindergarten and now I am responsible for children from 4 months up to 5 years and I absolutely love it. Seeing the children evolve at such a fast speed is such a fascinating thing to witness! My main duty is to keep the children busy. I play with them, draw or craft with them and I am there to give them support and a feeling of comfort. We go out to the playground almost everyday and after that it is lunch time and after lunch, I help tucking the younger children in for their nap. This task may sometimes be a little tough, especially when a child starts crying or wants to play when they're in bed because they will always wake up the other children. Even though this often takes some time, reading to the children and watching them fall asleep is an important task to do and it is one of my favourites because it strengthens the bond between me and the kids.
While the kids are asleep, I do some of the household duties that are necessary at a kindergarten. I do the laundry, clean the tables, tidy the room or help in the kitchen. After the children wake up from their nap, I prepare a snack for them. This snack usually consists of fresh fruit and vegetables or rarely a cracker or cookie.
After that, we either go outside again or we play inside. When the children are going out, I already start cleaning the room and tidying everything up. On days we stay inside for the afternoon, I tidy the playground. Then, the children are being picked up by their parents and parents often tell me that their kids talk about me at home or that they are painting me pictures. I always feel very appreciated and honoured by the kids, their parents and my coworkers.

And that is exactly my motivation to become an au pair. Working with children is so rewarding and I just do not want to miss out on the opportunity of working with children while doing my second favourite thing, traveling!
