DAMARIS, 31 ÅR

ABOUT ME :
I am Damaris, 27 from Kenya currently in NETHERLANDS as an Aupair up to 22/8/2020. This has given me a good opportunity to gain more child care experiences especially in a foreign country. I am really enjoying everything about Tue programme. I am a hardworking, flexible, principled, and out-going lady who takes corrections positively. I am eager to learn more than what I already know. I have children at heart, I enjoy listening to them, making stories with them, and ensuring that their well-being is catered for. I am a very focused lady who values perfection. I am looking for a family that I will bond with, give my very best and treat them as my own. I don't really concentrate on what I am offered but what I do out of passion. I am a teacher by profession. I have interacted with kids of year 1 to 9. I have also dealt with kids up to 17years old.


I have a twin sister by the name Dianah Walubengo, we are the first borns in a family of 6 children. We grew up very responsible since our mum always advised us. She taught us everything from child-care to house chores, shamba and garden flower digging. I am an all-round lady who doesn't chose on work. I do anything, as so long as it comes from my heart.

My experiences: Being a first born, we grew up very responsible; while in Kenya, i was heping with taking care of our younger siblings though much concentration was on our last born brother 10 years old in the city as my parents are in upcountry. I used to give him my best; take him out, help him with home-work, help him grow his football and skating talents among others. I also helped our 2nd born with child care. Together with my twin sister, now that we are done with our schooling, we supported her to complete her undergrad by taking care of her kid in turns. We have a sweet nephew. He is the most precious gift in our family. Playing, teasing, twinning and teaching him some dancing styles is my thing with him. I enjoy every bit with him of course!

I am a teacher by profession, so I happened to have taught Y1 to Y9 pupils which has given me an opportunity to grow my child-care experience. I am the class teacher of the year 1s mostly 4-7year old kids. I enjoy spending my social time with them apart from the normal class work. They even call me "Mama"; some cry leaving school for home. I would write pamphlets on my kids experience because it is my passion.

I like teaching, socializing, making stories, reading among others.


MOTIVATION

First, being around children makes me whole, I have them at heart, I love children and I would not hesitate if given a chance to interact with many many more!

Why abroad? My current experience has given me a positivr energy to try out in another foreign country. I have already done a lot of this in Kenya and so thought of taking my passion and love for kids some miles by exploring and meeting kids from a different culture.
I would wish to learn more of other languages, cultures among others. By this, it will expand my horizon and enrich my profile in the cases where my gained experience from the Au-pair program explore is an added advantage
