FERNANDA, 32 ÅR

Dear Host Family,
My name is Fernanda, a brazilian au pair of 28 years old. I am an optimistic, energetic and talkative person that loves to be around kids and that is currently working as an English teacher in Brazil, which is something that I have been doing for about 2 years now. I do have a degree in Graphic Design, but my love for kids has spoken louder and it was because of this love that in 2014 I first decided to become an au pair in the USA.
I lived in the USA from 2015 to 2017 and had one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had in my life. There, I made new friends, experienced a new culture, improved my English, visited new places and fell in love with 3 little humans that still occupy a big portion of my heart. Today I can say that I have two families, and one of them lives in the USA.
Since the day I came back to Brazil, I knew I couldn’t work with anything else that wasn’t related to kids, and that is the reason why I now work as a teacher. Working with education is really rewarding; you are able to see someone’s growth and help them through that path. Seeing them achieve their goals because you helped them and you cared is something that makes me emotional every time. And being an au pair is not that different from it, the only difference I see is the possibility of focusing more and creating a greater emotional bond (which can help a lot in the educational growth).
I decided to be an au pair again because I miss being able to learn a new language, experiencing a new culture and meeting new people.
Somethings that I think are important to mention about myself and my experiences: I currently can only go around august, 2020 because I will have finished my post graduation course in Teaching English as a Second Language; I love animals, so I have no problems with dogs or cats (I love big dogs! My two prior family had two big dogs); I can drive, I drove for the 2 years that I was in the USA; Swimming is no problem for me, including pool or sea; I cannot bike, but I am willing to learn; and I do have the intention of learning a new language. At the moment I can speak Portuguese, English and I have been learning Spanish. I have a dream of being a polyglot one day; I have a lot of experience with kids, prior to my au pair in the USA, I worked for a short period in a daycare where I worked with kids of 2 and 3 years old; as an au pair, I worked with the ages of 6 to 15; I had some experience with kids 2 years old and 1 year-old as an extra work during my au pair years; after this I worked as a teacher with all ages, from 2 to 80 :); my last experience came with my niece that lives with me and she is 6 months old.
