Dear Host Family, My name is Favour Onyeka. I am 23 years old and come from Nigeria. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I would be delighted to become a part of your family as your au pair. I am a warm, patient, and responsible person who naturally connects with children. Caring for them has always been an important part of my life. As the eldest of four children, I grew up helping to care for my younger siblings. This experience taught me to be nurturing, dependable, and understanding from a young age. At the moment, I live with a close family friend and her four children, who are between the ages of 5 and 13. I actively support their daily routine by helping prepare meals, assisting them in getting ready for school, supervising playtime, and helping with school runs when needed. These experiences have taught me how to understand children's different personalities and create a calm, caring, and supportive environment where they feel safe and happy. I also volunteer at an orphanage, where I help care for children and support them in their daily activities. This experience has been especially meaningful because it has strengthened my compassion, patience, and sense of responsibility. It has also deepened my love for working with children and my desire to make a positive difference in their lives. In addition, I have completed first aid training, which has given me the confidence to respond calmly and responsibly in emergency situations and to help ensure children's safety. In my free time, I enjoy dancing, listening to music, watching movies, and spending quality time with my family and friends. I am curious about different cultures and enjoy meeting new people and learning from their experiences. I am currently learning German and preparing for my A1 examination. I am highly motivated to improve my language skills and learn more about German culture and traditions. I believe becoming an au pair is a wonderful opportunity to immerse myself in daily life with a German-speaking family while also sharing my own culture and values. As your au pair, I hope to be more than someone who helps with childcare. I would love to become a trusted older sister to your children—someone they feel safe, comfortable, and happy with. I would be happy to assist with tasks related to the children, such as preparing simple meals, helping with homework, playing games, reading stories, and keeping their spaces tidy. I would also like to mention that I am prepared to cover my own travel expenses to Germany.
