SHARON, 25 JAHRE

Dear Host Family, My name is Acham Sharon, I am a 25 year old I was born and raised in Uganda, I have never really had an opportunity to visit other countries which makes me so excited to kick start this amazing journey, whereas going to a new place can sometimes be nerve wrecking,I am confident that my ability to adapt to new environments and spaces is important in my journey. I am the second child out of 7 of us and being in that position means that I was involved in the upbringing and nurturing of the rest of my siblings which I am glad I was able to. I would describe my family as a big and loving family where all of us have a good relationship with one another, during christmass the norm is that we all gather and celebrate christmass as a family and it's usually massive every christmass is unforgettable. For me, the au pair program is a beautiful opportunity for a cultural exchange a chance to experience the famous lifestyles and values which I ever watch on TV while sharing the warmth, food, and culture of Uganda and my family with your family. My studies where I majored in vulnerable populations and my life experiences have shaped me into a person who deeply loves and cares for children. In my free time, I love cooking and baking new recipes of cakes mainly for friends and families birthdays,I actually love baking I enrolled In a short course at the start of this year and learnt a lot about decorating cakes, baking pastries among others, I also enjoy reading, and spending quality time going out with my friends. I also have a deep passion for helping the needy, which led me to work with a wonderful non-profit organization in Uganda called the Odusai Child Development Centre. During my time at the centre, I looked after both able-bodied children and children with physical and developmental disabilities with in the age range of 3 to 12. This experience taught me that every child deserves the exact same shot at life, they deserve to be treated equally if not given special attention. Caring for children with disabilities taught me a lot of patience, empathy, and attention, my experience has shaped me and drawn me more to children with disabilities and I am happy to care for, love and build self esteem in their little hearts incase I am matched with a family having a child with disabilities. I focused heavily on helping them build confidence and finding creative ways to ensure they felt fully included and able to fit into society. I carry this deep sense of care with me everywhere I go. Interestingly, I discovered my passion for teaching entirely by accident during the Covid-19 lockdown. With schools closed, I started to teach my younger siblings how to read and write from home. I created daily lessons and made learning fun. When schools finally reopened, their teachers were more than impressed, my siblings were exceeding their expectations and were completely ahead of the rest of their class, and they have remained at the very top of their class ever since, this makes me so proud of them and myself. That breakthrough moment showed me the power of patient, and true guidance. I cannot wait to utilize these childcare and teaching skills to help your children grow, learn, and succeed whether they are able-bodied or have special needs. I am a responsible, proactive, and caring person who is ready to help make your daily family life smoother and happier. I also sat my english language proficiency test where I attained a C1 score I can provide the results upon request.
