Dear Host-Family, "Hi!😊" My name is Chantclér Vinolia Schröder. I was born in Cape Town, South Africa and I live in a beautiful small town just 40min outside of Cape Town called “Hermanus” with my parents and two younger siblings. My Father (George) is an independent contractor in our town and my mother (Elna/”Anna”) is a part-time housekeeper both of them have been doing their job for over 15 years. My two sisters Andrea and Georgia are both younger than me. Andrea (22) just started her job as a traffic officer and my younger sister Georgia is in her first year of high school. My older brother Denver(26) lives with his mother in another town and we get to spend time with him during the holiday time. The one thing I love most about my town is our long coastlines which is my favourite place to go and take a long walk or refreshing jog alongside the ocean waves and appreciate the beautiful views as well as spend time with my family by hiking through our fynbos mountains. The reason why I love being an Au Pair is that I get to be part of the family which is very important to me, I get to learn new skills and be one of the family members. I enjoy learning more about the different cultures around the world and I get to do it while doing the thing I enjoy the most, which is working with children of all ages. When I graduated high school I knew that I was going to become an Au pair but before I could do that I had to gain experience working with children and so I volunteered at a pre-school and learned everything that I needed to know about taking care of kids but I ended up staying there for three years working as an Aftercare teacher and as a Teachers assistant. When Covid happened in 2020 I was afraid that I would not get my chance in fulfilling my dream of becoming an Au pair so I took the risk of quitting my job and applying to be an Au pair in the US, 2 months after applying I met the most amazing family of 4 in Sacramento CA and could not have been happier. 1 year later and I'm with another family taking care of two wonderful kids, a boy 8 and a girl 5 in Dallas TX. The things I love doing with my host children are taking them on walks to the park, karaoke morning drives to school along with positive affirmations,planning outings in the summertime when they are on school holidays, water fights in the hot afternoons, reading time every day is my favourite time of the day, I planned a date night with each of my host kids and I would take them to the movies along with going to a restaurant of their choice and they absolutely loved doing it. What makes me unique from everyone else is that I am a very calm, hard-working and collective individual, someone who just loves being able to share her happiness with everyone and most importantly making sure my host kids are happy. I'm sometimes quiet at first but once you get to know me you get to see my bubbly energetic and fun personality. I am also very easy to get along with, I'm an extremely good listener which I believe is my strong point and I am very organized. I like to keep things clean and in the right order. I'm very good at following rules and keeping to a daily schedule which is very important to me. My goal for the future is to be a Web developer working for Google or Microsoft, I am currently taking different courses on Coursera to achieve my goal but for now, my goal is to get as much cultural experience as I dreamed of getting and enjoy having the freedom of being a wanderer while I am still young and old enough to do so. I enjoy spending my free time going out with friends and maybe going on trips. I also love spending quality time with myself by reading my favorite books and having a self-care weekend at home watching my favourite shows and movies. I enjoy going for afternoon walks and just strolling around at the nearest mall or just spending my time studying and learning new skills. I hope to meet you very soon! Kindest regards
