Hello future host family!

My name is Patricia, turning 24 years old this coming December 2015 and currently based in Manila, Philippines.

I grew up in a household of 5: My 58 year-old mom, 2 brothers ages 26 and 22 and a pet dog. Our house is a located in a small village in Binan, a city in the province of Laguna. Our distance from the capital Manila is about 34 kilometers.

Since my siblings and I grew up without a helper, doing household chores have always been a part of our daily routines at home. These include fixing our rooms, washing the dishes, vacuuming, ironing clothes, cleaning the windows, tidying up the garage, and cooking.

I would describe myself as independent, organized, caring, outgoing, driven and energetic. I love being surrounded by kids and I’m always hungry for adventures. When I’m not working in the office, I spend my free time hanging out with family and friends, having a good meal in a nice restaurant, reading, doing outdoor activities like scuba diving and traveling.

Traveling is one of my biggest hobbies. I’ve travelled around South East Asia countries quite extensively and it is through traveling that I’ve learned how to be independent, how to deal with people from different cultures and backgrounds, and how to easily adapt myself to a new environment.

Aside from wanting to have a great life experience, I’d like the chance to participate in an au pair program for specific reasons: to dive into a fascinating culture, to learn a new language, to meet people, to be integrated into the lives of a family and to form a connection with children.

I gained experience in children mainly through the organization that I was a part of when I was still studying in the University. Me and my colleagues arranged several outreach programs to kids in need – took them to museums, played games, sang and danced, conducted story telling sessions, organized small gatherings and Christmas parties, etc.

I also had the chance to involve myself in an immersion program wherein I was able to live with a family for 5 weeks. I did household chores, helped the family with their everyday life and took care of their children. It was a life changing experience, something that I will always remember for the rest of my life.
