GISSELA, 26 JAHRE

My name is Gissela, I am 23 years old and I live in Quito- Ecuador. I have 2 brothers and one sister. I’m the middle child. We are a very close, sociable and communicative family. My family is so large and I love it. I have many aunties, uncles and cousins. We meet frequently on weekend.

Currently I live with my parents to take care of my mother. I have just graduated of Political Science and International Relations.



I have always been touched by children care and aid. When I was in high school I was volunteer in a foster house. There were two sections: babies and children. The director ask me to not to be so lovely with babies because they had to be independent; this was a peaceful moment feeding them, singing and playing.

I stayed in my cousins home (Quito), this was a great experience, because I share time and take care of my little second cousins, Juan and Enrique. Juan was 10 years old and Enrique was 6 years old., I was learning French by that time, and I used to help them with their homework in English and in Spanish, then study for my French course. It was a wonderful and demanding experience because their parents used to go abroad for business and let me with them. I’m glad of that time because I learn about them and I feel loved by my Juanito and Enriquito so much, as I love them. Now they ask for advices or go to play with them the afternoon. I took care of them since they were babies but sharing home with them was so amazing.

Three year ago my family get happier because my old brother Edwin give me a beautiful niece, Cattleya. My brother and his girlfriend are doing their high school on weekends, so I travel every Friday to Ambato, which is my hometown, to take care of her. Each month is funnier take care of her because she learn new words and get more energy. Currently, due to the health situation I had to take care of my niece during two months.


Besides childcare experience, I have always been active and hardworking. I started by helping my father (Galo) in the music store and my mom (Noemi) with cooking. Then I get my first job as social science, math and language teacher with teenagers that want to pass the national exam to get in the public universities.
